What is next after high school graduation?  Off to work?  Off to college?  Maybe both?  Preparing to transition from school to work or to post-secondary education and training is an exciting, but often stressful time.  While you're in high school, consider participating in one of these Career Programs that will help you explore possible career options, develop important emplyability skills and maybe even get a head start on a career path.

Work Experience 12A (WEX12A)

Designed for Grade 11 and 12 students, who wish to combine school with career exploration through practical, hands-on work experience. The school's Career Facilitator will arrange volunteer work experience placements for you that fit your strengths and interests.

Secondary School Apprenticeship Program (SSA)

Secondary School Apprenticeship is a provincial career program that enables students who already have a job in an apprenticeable trade to move directly into the standard apprenticeship training system while still in high school. Become a registered apprentice, "earn while you learn" and be eligible for a $1000 SSA Scholarship!

ACE IT (ACE IT)

A dual-credit industry training program that allows students to receive credits for high school graduation as well as completion of the first year of an apprenticeship program. Level One of the technical training component (in-class) and 480 hours of on-the-job training are usually part of the program. Students who complete an ACE IT program typically have very good success in finding employment.

Regional Career Programs (RCP)

A University of the Fraser Valley initiative whereby Abbotsford School District students can apply for advanced enrollment (in their grade 12 year) in a Trade or Technology Program not already offered by the School District. Students admitted in this program must meet the prerequisites as set out by UFV and this includes having all core graduation courses completed by the end of grade 11.
